Yesterday afternoon started with making chocolate covered pretzels for us and our preschool friends. We began with melting white chocolate, my favorite, followed by dark chocolate, Abby’s favorite. This quickly moved from dipping our tiny pretzels into the chocolates to someone eating only the chocolate! The perpetrator swiftly initiated a rendition of five little monkeys. As each one fell of their bed a finger of chocolate disappeared until all fell off the bed. At the end of our caper someone had chocolate from head to toe so why not move on to painting for an evening closer?
Painting is an activity that tops the list for fun along with playdough. It took some time to find the paints since everything is put away with having the house up for sale. Eventually, we found the paints and proceeded to fill up the paint tray with every color we had. The only rule we had this evening was no painting of hands or feet, this only leads to walking on our hands and feet across paper and quite a mess. If it had not been 7:00 p.m. when this was initiated then it would have been a different story and we still required a bath from the chocolate.
I sat and watched as Abby painted what started out to be a lion and evolved into many colors overlapping one another. This always puzzles me how she starts with a “design” and to me, it becomes just “paint”. So, I asked her why she mixes everything and she explained that the colors make her happy. Huh? I need to listen to her little bits of wisdom more often.
Tonight is tiny taco night and we are having some guests for dinner; I hope they love tiny taco night as much as we do.
